The Go programming language is coming to Google App Engine

The growing number of developers will soon have another platform Go: Go is the third language, after Python and Java, in which to write applications for Google App Engine. This is an exciting new experimental feature of the application engine and a major milestone for Go

Go is an open source language, initially designed in Google, which was published in November 2009 and has seen significant growth since its launch. It is a statically typed, compiled language with a dynamic touch and light. It is also an interesting option for the new App Engine and Go applications be compiled to native code, which makes What a good choice for more intensive tasks from the CPU. In addition to garbage collection characteristics and the concurrence of the tongue, with excellent libraries, making it a great fit for web applications.

Starting today, the App Engine SDK to Go is available for download at Google website, and will soon allow the deployment of applications Go to App Engine infrastructure. If you are interested in starting early, sign up to be the first through the door when it opened in early testers. Once solid proof, let's open to everyone, but will remain a feature of the experimental application of the engine for a while.

You do not need an existing installation of Go, the SDK is completely autonomous, so it is easy to get a local web application running. The SDK is an easy way to start playing Go.

Kaptur Photo Album

  • What is Kaptur?

  • Kaptur is a utility that lets you create single albums using everyone's photos, videos and statuses, regardless of when and where posted.
You've seen the wedding photographer's photos, and a few of the albums your family and friends have uploaded to Facebook and Flickr, but there are loads of photos you've never seen. What's more, all of the photos and videos are in different places, so it's really hard to share them. If you want to look at your photos a few years down the road, you have to spend time sifting through Facebook and Flickr albums again or finding old links in your email. With Kaptur, you can find and organize all of the photos and videos from your wedding or any event in seconds and easily share with your friends, allow guests to contribute their own photos and videos, and on your five-year anniversary when you want to look back at all of your photos, they are all in one place.
  • Do I have to register, pay fees, or upload photos?

  • No registration. No fees. No uploads. To use Kaptur, you just need to connect with Facebook on our site. You can then import photos and other media from Facebook, Flickr, YouTube, and Vimeo. "Adding" photos is a seamless process and doesn't require waiting around for uploads.
  • I'm worried about giving Kaptur access to my Facebook information.

  • Your privacy is our highest priority. We won't sell your information to advertisers, or share anything with any third party. We have designed Kaptur to protect your actual identity. You can think of the site as your own tool to discover, organize and share your memories from within your social networks. The way it works is that when you log in to our site using your Facebook information, you are really just logging into Facebook but on our site. We then help you explore and organize the content that lives in your Facebook account.
You can also set additional privacy setting on Kaptur so that when you invite users to view your memory, they too must log in via Facebook. If anything makes you feel uncomfortable, just email, call, or stop by and we will remove everything you ask us to.
  • Will anyone be able to see my photos or add to my memory?

  • Our privacy settings are straightforward and simple: you choose who can view (everyone, logged-in users, just your friends, or just you) and who can contribute (logged-in users, just your friends, or just you).
  • I've added a bunch of my photos and videos to Kaptur, now what? How do my friends contribute?

  • Click on any of the icons on the left-hand side of the page to share your memory with friends on Facebook, Twitter, or via e-mail. You can also just copy and paste the URL into an e-mail or message. When your friends visit your memory, all they have to do is connect to Facebook, then they can add any of their own photos and videos without uploading anything.
What's great about Kaptur is that you can add your friends' photos without their doing anything. If your friends participate, all they have to do is click "I was there," we automatically pull in any media they generated within the date range. You can also look through a friends' Facebook and Flickr albums and add photos yourself.
  • What if I have pictures on other platforms besides Facebook + Flickr?

  • Kaptur is integrating new photo partners regularly. In the mean time, if you want to use a photo that isn't on Facebook or Flickr, just upload it to either one. If there are platforms you would like for us to integrate, please email us at: feedback@kaptur.com
  • Can I download and print any photos at home?

  • You can download all photos from a memory, regardless of who uploaded them to which platform. You can download all in one click by clicking "download" on the memory page or you can download individual photos by clicking on a photo to enlarge it and then clicking the download icon. You can also print directly from the enlarged photo view to your printer. Soon we will be releasing features to let you print high quality prints, customized merchandise, photo books, greeting cards and much much more.

Microsoft tweaked its Office Web Apps

Microsoft adjusted its Office Web Apps earlier this week with some improvements designed to make Excel and PowerPoint a little easier to use.
Excel fans can now insert, delete and rename individual worksheets in a workbook, as it can on the desktop version. To do this, open the Excel file in the editor online. Then simply right-click a tab to an existing worksheet. You'll see three options that are familiar to insert, delete or rename. Insert adds a new worksheet in front of the current selection. Remove prompts you to permanently get rid of the leaf. And the name change dialog box appears to enter the new name.
Excel users can now take advantage of the popular feature and assistance AutoSum formula used in calculations and use popular forms. AutoSum find the button in the toolbar. When you click the down arrow calls a list of formulas, such as Sum, Average, Max, and Min can take advantage of the full range of functions and even view the different categories such as general purpose financial, date and time, and statistics, as in the desktop edition.
PowerPoint users also get a new feature. Now you can change the visual theme used in his presentation at any time. Just click on the Change button issue in the toolbar, and you can select from nearly 50 songs on the fly.
You can access the free movement of Office Web Apps in their own dedicated website, giving you the ability to create and edit their own Office documents stored on-line through the cloud-based Microsoft SkyDrive service.
Microsoft also offers online tips, tricks and tutorials to help new users begin using Office Web Apps programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote.

Facebook Allows Users to Tag Pages in Photos

Facebook users can tag your pages in your photos. Photo Page added that adhere to the privacy settings of a user, and only appear in the form of a page if you put the photos to view. At first, Facebook only allows Pages category "Brands and Products" or "individuals" who are tagged, but says he is "looking to expand this functionality to more categories of Page with time."

As a label will link to the page appears in the photo of a user, the function could become an important discovery and growth channel for pages.

Previously, users could tag their friends in photos, but now you can bookmark any page with the appropriate category, if you liked it or not. A brand label or a public figure represents a strong social recommendation on the page, to become friends of a user's curiosity to visit that page and improve the possibility that they like themselves.

Photo is the most popular Facebook native application, receiving a large number of views. Labels on the pictures pages can get prints of many of his friends from a user for a long period of time, offering many opportunities for the page to gain new fans. Tagged photos often appear on the news source generating additional impressions for the link of the page.

Brands, products and people are some of the things represented by the pages that most often appear in photos of the user. Brands such as soft drinks or clothing lines can indeed be included in photos of friends, while users tend to upload photos of themselves with celebrities to the network. The Facebook examples included in the information sent to us are brand / product of Coca Cola, and musician Kanye West, which is technically classified as a musician / band, indicating that the pages with a wide range of categories that represent people can benefit from the new role Tak.

Back in September 2009, Facebook began allowing users to tag pages status updates and comments. The extended delay before the page labeled at the photos suggests that Facebook understands the abuse and the potential dilution RSS feed of the entity. Pages too could encourage users to ask for labels in the pictures, filling the news feeds of friends with photos that are not so convincing. Facebook will have to ensure that the photos they include only tags on pages, but friends do not give high visibility at newsfeed.
