LG will host an event on 1 October in New York; may announce the dual-display V10

LG has sent out invites to the media for an event which will take place on October 1 in New York City. The company has not announced as to what it will unveil but it looks like LG will unveil the dual display smartphone called V10.
Judging by the above invite, it looks like LG might present some sought of a movie theme during the launch.
According to rumoured specifications, the smartphone is said to include an ‘auxiliary ticker display’, which has been previously seen on Samsung’s Continuum smartphone, which was introduced in 2010. The handset which has  indicates that the device is said to have a 5.7-inch display along with a Snapdragon 808 processor paired with 3GB RAM.
It is said to be equipped with a 16MP rear camera along with a 5MP front facing camera. The LG V10 will most likely have an internal storage at 64GB and can be further expanded via microSD card. In addition, the device will also include a finger-print scanner.
In line with the recent report about Google launching two Nexus devices on september 29, a new report now reveals more details about the LG-built Nexus smartphone.
According to a report  LG built Google device will be named Nexus 5X and will carry a price tag that is slightly more than the original Nexus 5. Citing sources related to the matter, the report further adds that the Nexus 5X will go on sale starting September 29.

Twitter partners with Stripe to expand ‘buy buttons’

Payments processing company Stripe Inc launched a new tool on Monday that will connect retailers and brands to sell on platforms like Twitter and tap an increasing number of consumers shopping on mobile apps.
Twitter’s adoption of Stripe’s new product, Relay, is expected to help the microblogging site further dabble in e-commerce and generate revenue through its “buy buttons,” which lets shoppers buy a product and enter payment and shipping information without leaving Twitter’s platform.
Twitter has been struggling to increase its audience and in July said its number of monthly average users grew at its slowest pace since it went public in 2013.
“Almost two-thirds of our users say they bought something specifically because of what they saw on Twitter. … As mobile and social (media) continue to grow, consumers are going to discover and transact right in the apps where they spend their time every day,” Nathan Hubbard, Twitter’s head of commerce, said at a launch event in San Francisco, where both companies are based.
Stripe, which makes software that helps businesses accept various types of payments on websites and in apps, counts grocery-delivery startup Instacart, ride-sharing app Lyft and e-commerce platform Shopify among its clients.
The payments company’s new Relay product functions as a universal sell button for retailers, allowing companies like eyewear brand Warby Parker to list products in a single place and sell them directly on Twitter as well as other e-commerce platforms like ShopStyle.
A smoother shopping experience is crucial to online retailers as they often blame the high rates of unfinished or abandoned online sales on the tiring process of re-entering payment information.
Stripe’s chief executive and co-founder, Patrick Collison, who was also at the event, likened the common difficulty of completing purchases through mobile devices to “an obstacle course,” noting that two-thirds of mobile shopping carts are abandoned before the transaction is completed.

Facebook now allows anyone with a verified account to use Mentions app

Facebook is now expanding its Mentions and live blogging app to more users which as of now, is only available on the iOS App Store. The platform, which was previously available for certain celebrities such as musicians and actors will now be open to any individual with a verified account Mentions account.
According to the Facebook Blog, you can report from the scene with Live, host a Q&A and connect in real-time with your followers. You can also check out what people are saying about you and other topics you follow. In addition, you can also see what topics are currently trending on Facebook.
The new Mentions app will also let you too choose the audience you want to share your text, links, photos or anything else. For example, Facebook states that you can share a post so only your followers see it in News Feed.
With this attempt, Facebook wants more and more journalists to use its platform as their distribution channel of choice. This will allow them to post live to Facebook during breaking news or to host live Q&As with followers as well.
Users with a verified profile can log in with their Facebook credentials to start connecting with their followers but if you’re a public figure and believe your Page or profile should be verified, you can fill out this form.
The whole deal is to make it simpler for people with verified pages to manage their Facebook account by viewing posts that mention them. It will also help these people to respond more quickly and easily via the dedicated app. Facebook Mentions also shows a timeline of posts that reference the particular user.
Facebook calls it an authentic way to connect with fans. Besides access to the video on News Feed, people who have recently interacted with a celebrity’s posts will receive a notification when the broadcast begins.

3D Touch: Apple’s pressure-based screens promise a world beyond cold glass

By adding a more realistic sense of touch to its iPhone, Apple Inc may have conquered a technology that has long promised to take us beyond merely feeling the cold glass of our mobile device screens.
In its latest iPhones, Apple included what it calls 3D Touch, allowing users to interact more intuitively with their devices via a pressure-sensitive screen which mimics the feel and response of real buttons.
In the long run, the force-sensitive technology also promises new or better applications, from more lifelike games and virtual reality to adding temperature, texture and sound to our screens.
“Force Touch is going to push the envelope of how we interact with our screens,” says Joel Evans, vice president of mobile enablement at Mobiquity, a mobile consultancy.
The fresh iPhones, unveiled on Wednesday, incorporate a version of the Force Touch technology already in some Apple laptop touchpads and its watches. Apple also announced a stylus that includes pressure sensing technology.
As with previous forays, from touch screens to fingerprint sensors, Apple isn’t the first with this technology, but by combining some existing innovations with its own, it could leverage its advantage of control over hardware, interface and the developers who could wrap Force Touch into its apps.
“Here we go again. Apple’s done it with gyroscopes, accelerometers, they did it with pressure sensors, they’ve done it with compass, they’ve been great at expediting the adoption of these sensors,” said Ali Foughi, CEO of US-based NextInput, which has its own technology, trademarked ForceTouch. “Apple is at the forefront.”
TOUCHY FEELY
Haptic technology – a tactile response to touching an interface – isn’t new, even in mobile devices. Phones have long vibrated to alert users of incoming calls in silent mode, or when they touch an onscreen button.
But efforts to go beyond that have been limited.
BlackBerry incorporated pressure sensing into its Storm phone in 2008. And Rob Lacroix, vice president of engineering at Immersion Corp, said his company worked in 2012 with Fujitsu on the Raku-Raku Smartphone, an Android phone that could distinguish between a soft and firm touch to help users unfamiliar with handheld devices.
But most efforts have been hamstrung by either a poor understanding of the user’s needs, or technical limitations. A vibrating buzz, for instance, has negative connotations, causing most people to turn off any vibration feature, says James Lewis, CEO of UK-based Redux, which has been working on similar touch technology for several years.
The technology powering vibrations is also primitive, he said, meaning there’s a slight delay and a drain on the battery. Early versions of pressure-sensing technology also required a slight gap between screen and enclosure, leaving it vulnerable to the elements.
Apple seems to have solved such problems, experts said, judging from their trackpads and the Apple Watch. Indeed, the trackpad carries the same sensation of a physical click of its predecessors, but without the actual pad moving at all.
The result: In the short term, Force Touch may simply make interacting with a screen more like something we’d touch in real life – a light switch, say, or a physical keyboard. With Force Touch, the device should be able to tell not only whether we are pressing the screen, but how firmly. It should in turn respond with a sensation – not just a vibration, but with a click – even if that click is itself a trick of technology.
“What we’re going to see initially is putting life back into dead display,” said Redux’s Lewis. “We just got used to the cold feel of glass.”
HARD PRESSED
To be sure, mobile is not the first industry to flirt with haptics.
For example, for car drivers, Redux demonstrates a tablet-like display which creates the illusions of bumps and friction when you run your fingers over the glass, mimicking physical buttons and sliders so your eyes don’t need to leave the road.
Mobiquity’s technical adviser Robert McCarthy points to several potential uses of Apple’s technology – measuring the force of touch when entering a password, say, to indicate how confident the user is of their selection, or keying in a numeric passcode using different pressure levels as an extra layer of security.
While Apple’s adoption of the technology has awoken the mobile industry to its possibilities, it was pipped to the post by Chinese handset maker Huawei, which this month unveiled one model with what it also tagged Force Touch technology. Pressing harder in a photo app, for example, allows you to zoom in on a picture without the usual two-finger spread.
Other manufacturers are exploring how to make touching a device more friendly, and more advanced, says Freddie Liu, CFO of Taiwan-based TPK Holding Co Ltd, an Apple supplier.
“This is just the beginning for Force Touch,” he said.

Amazon will soon release a tablet which costs $50

Online retailer Amazon.com plans to release a $50 tablet in time for the holiday season. The 6-inch screen tablet comes with a mono speaker and is priced much lower than Amazon’s Fire tablet, the cheapest variant of which is sold at $99.
The company was not immediately available for comment. Amazon also plans to release 8-inch and 10-inch screen tablets, the report said. While other Amazon Fire tablets show advertisements as screen savers, it was not clear if the new 6-inch tablet’s cost included ads, according to the report.
In addition, these tablets are said to be simple and are intended for streaming videos, browsing through social media and one more medium for shopping online via Amazon’s website.
According to the report, Amazon outsourced much of the development to overseas firms including Shanghai Huaqin Telecom Technology and Taiwan’s Compal Communications in an attempt to lower the cost for the new 6-inch tablet.
With an affordable price tag, the devices might carry ‘inferior specifications’ but no confirmed information has been provided. However, this might set these tablets apart from the ones manufactured by Apple, Samsung and others which fall under a premium bracket.

YU introduces YUPIX smart mobile printer; now print photos from smartphone

Indian electronics brand YU Televentures, owned by Micromax has launched a portable photo printer called the YUPIX.

The YUPIX measures 2.99 x 6.01 x 0.94 inch and is powered by a 750 mAh battery. It is interesting to see the introduction of devices such as the YUPIX. Interestingly at IFA, an instant digital camera that prints images without using ink! It accomplishes the task of printing crystal clear images by using a thermally sensitive paper with ink crystals. It seems the industry sees potential in helping consumers recreate their digital moments in print, the personalised way.

IFA 2015: Samsung unveils its first Ultra HD Blu-ray player

At IFA, Korean giant Samsung unveiled its first Ultra HD Blu-ray player, which supports UHD Blu-ray disc playback as well. As of now, the company has not provided any details regarding pricing or availability.
The player, which is capable of providing four times the resolution and 64 times higher colour expression compared to standard Blu-ray, is capable of upscaling content to provide UHD resolution for any disc. Additionally 4K streaming services are available. The Ultra HD Blu-ray Player features a sleek, curved design, which goes well with Samsung Curved SUHD TVs.
In addition, the company stated that it is committed to expanding the ecosystem for Ultra HD or 4K content. To deliver more UHD content worldwide, the company has also partnered with a number of firms including Amazon, Netflix, British Telecom, and Canal Plus.

Our vision is of an IoT that’s ‘In Sync With Life’, that’s an IoT for you.”

Microsoft Snip will offer screenshots on Windows with music and scribbles

Microsoft has introduced a new beta app called Snip, which aims to ease the process of taking screenshots on touch-enabled screens for Windows computers. Once installed, the app not only takes screenshots, but will also annotate it and add music to it as well.
The new beta tool can be installed on Windows 7 and Windows 10 from here. Microsoft Snip will float on the screen so that one can quickly take a screenshot of the screen or a particular area, as and when required.
This office tool captures are mostly copied automatically to the clipboard but, if one adds audio to it, it will automatically get transformed  into an MP4 file that can be embedded on websites or viewed from a URL. However, the beta app is said to be a little ‘buggy’ as of now but there is scope for improvement.
Most people will be familiar with ‘Snipping Tool’ which is already present on Windows but the new enhanced Microsoft Snip is said to be a leap forward. The app, which is a smarter variant of the Snipping Tool, enhances screenshots and makes them easier to share or doodle over them too. The report points out that there are a variety of screenshot and screen capture tools for Windows but most of them are not free.

OneDrive's Groups feature shutting down October 16th

Microsoft officially announced it's axing the Groups feature in OneDrive in the coming weeks, meaning stalwarts still using the online storage service for collaborating will need to start migrating their data to new locations. This shouldn't come as a surprise, though: The feature has been largely shuttered for months. As it is, users haven't been able to create new groups; they can only work within existing ones.
However, that's no longer the case: People who still use Groups received an email today informing them that the feature will not be available after October 16th, 2015, and that any data stored in a group file will be deleted. If you want to keep your data currently contained in Groups, follow these instructions to migrate it to a different folder in OneDrive. This means you're essentially downloading files to a desktop, then uploading them into a different folder in OneDrive. (Oddly, these instructions claim that Groups will no longer be available after September 30th 2015 but our contacts at Microsoft have assured us that October 16th is the correct date.) The email also contains instructions on how to share files and folders after moving them out of Groups. It's worth mentioning that individual OneDrive accounts already include free access to Office's online version, which has real-time co-editing so it doesn't matter if a file is owned by a group or a single person.

Google launches $90 Android One smartphone in six African countries

Google is introducing a low-priced smartphone in six African countries where most people still can't afford an Internet-connected device.

The "Hot 2" phone announced Tuesday is made by Infinix and has a recommended price of $88. It will be sold in stores in Nigeria and offered by online retailer Jumia in five other countries: Egypt, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, and Morocco. Jumia listed the phone at $98 before it sold out, based on a check of its website late Tuesday.

Infinix worked with Google on the Hot 2 as part of a program called Android One that made its debut in India last year.

Android One represents Google’s push to lower the prices of smartphones in less developed parts of the world where computers are considered a luxury. Google consults with device makers to build cheap phones that can still run the latest version of its Android software.
Infinix’s phone will be sold with an Android release that came out last year under the nickname “Lollipop.” It will be capable of running the next upgrade of Android, called “Marshmallow,” due out this fall.

The price for the Hot 2 is a steep markdown from other smartphones equipped with Android’s newest software. For instance, prices for Samsung Electronics newest Android phones to be released this month will cost from about $700 to more than $800 without a wireless contract.

The Android phones being released in Africa, though, are bare-bones models that can’t do as many things as more expensive phones.

Google, Facebook and other Internet companies are trying to get more people online in places like Africa so they can expand their audiences and eventually sell more digital advertising.

As part of that effort, Google already has built a fiber-optic network to provide faster Internet access in Kampala, the capital of Uganda.

Google launches Wi-Fi router named "OnHub" for home use

Google Inc launched a Wi-Fi router on Tuesday, the latest move in the company's efforts to get ready for the connected home and draw more users to its services. The cylinder-shaped router, named OnHub, can be pre-ordered for $199.99 at online retailers including the Google Store, Amazon.com Inc and Walmart.com.

The router comes with in-built antennas that will scan the airwaves to spot the fastest connection, Google said in a blog post.

With the router, users will be able to prioritize a device so that they can get the fastest Internet speeds for data-heavy activities such as downloading content or streaming a movie.

The router can be hooked up with Google’s On app, available on Android and iOS, to run network checks and keep track of bandwidth use among other things.

Google said OnHub automatically updates with new features and the latest security upgrades, just like the company’s Android OS and Chrome browser. The router is being manufactured by network company TP-LINK, Google said, hinting that ASUS could be the second manufacturing partner for the product.

Samsung unveils Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+

Today’s Samsung’s Unpacked event in New York City brought two new large-screen smartphones — the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge+. There’s plenty to like here, along with a few questionable things that will get to below.

First, let’s hit the good stuff: The Galaxy Note 5 keeps the stunning 5.7-inch quad HD (1440p) Super AMOLED display it had before, but surrounds it with a thinner bezel and a curved back to help with one-handed use. For the first time, the Galaxy Note 5 lets you write on the screen even when it’s off by using the included stylus, and you can annotate PDFs or download an entire webpage with Scroll Capture. An improved Air Command hovers an icon for instant access to S Pen tools.

The Galaxy S6 Edge+ also trims down a bit compared with the current-gen Edge, and has the same-size 5.7-inch display as the Note 5; it’s more than half an ounce lighter, and lacks the built-in stylus. You can do a few things with the edge portion of the screen, but it’s mainly a gimmick here.

Both phones sport 2.1GHz Exynos 7420 octa-core processors — a significant bump for the Galaxy Note 5 that brings it on par with the S6 — and 4GB of RAM. Both run Android 5.1 Lollipop, contain 3,000mAh (sadly, non-removable) batteries with fast-charging and wireless charging capabilities, 16-megapixel f/1.9 rear cameras, and 5-megapixel front-facing sensors.

While I always appreciate top-notch audio, two snake-oil-like things stand out here. There’s now support for 24-bit, 192kHz audio files, even though the difference over uncompressed 16-bit and 44.1kHz is virtually inaudible for mastered music. 24-bit certainly helps when recording and mixing, but not with the final product in any real sense. And there’s a fake upscaling feature called Ultra High Quality Audio that can’t possibly work, because you can’t re-add the missing musical information to compressed music files once it’s already gone. I would tread lightly with those, and just hope that the two new phones still have high quality DACs and headphone amps (recent models like the Galaxy S6 certainly do).

You can get either phone with 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, but there are no more micro SD card slots, so keep that in mind when choosing up front. The S6 Edge+ comes in black or gold, while the Note 5 comes in black or white.

Samsung got it right with the first Galaxy Note, back when few expected big demand for a large (then 5.3-inch) phone. More and more, large screens are beginning to dominate the spotlight, and increasingly, sales. These two phones will certainly keep Samsung in the game. No one else has developed the capacitive-screen stylus to as high a level, and continued refinements of the stunning-in-person Edge screen are certainly welcome.

Google to develop bandage-sized glucose monitoring devices

Somewhat lost amid this week's excitement surrounding Google's rebirth as Alphabet was the company's latest foray into the world of medical devices.
The company has entered into an agreement with DexCom to create a series of disposable continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices that the companies claim will be smaller and more affordable than current options.
"We're committed to developing new technologies that will help move health care from reactive to proactive," Andrew Conrad, head of the life sciences team at Google, said in a statement released by the two companies. "This collaboration is another step towards expanding monitoring options and making it easier for people with diabetes to proactively manage their health."
The collaboration will pair DexCom's sensor technology with Google's miniaturized electronics platform. Together, the two companies hope to develop a device with a bandage-sized sensor that will be connected to the cloud.
Earlier this week, while explaining the reasoning behind the change to the name Alphabet, Google cofounder Larry Page emphasized the importance of the company's Life Sciences effort, which has been working on a glucose-sensing contact lens Larry Page emphasized the importance of the company's Life Sciences effort, which has been working on a glucose-sensing contact lens.
Life Sciences initiative will no longer be a part of Google X (the company's experiment-focused incubator), and will operate as a standalone company under the stewardship of its current leader, Conrad.
Google's new partnership with an established player in the field of medical devices further establishes the company's seriousness about making real inroads into health care.

Force Touch on the iPhone 6S could change the way you launch apps

Apple’s next iPhone, widely expected to be called the iPhone 6S, will reportedly have a display that knows how hard you press down on it. Apple first introduced the feature, called Force Touch, in the Apple Watch and later rolled it out to the MacBook and MacBook Pro.
There will be “consistent usage of Force Touch across the operating system to ‘shortcut’ actions,” according to the report. For example, iPhone 6S users will be able to Force Touch an app icon on the home screen and be taken to a specific action; Force Touch the Phone icon and it will take you right to voicemails. Force Touch the Phone icon and it will take you right to voicemails.
Other uses include Force Touching a destination in Apple Maps to automatically launch turn-by-turn directions; Force Touching a song in the Music app to bring up a menu with options to add it to a playlist or save it for offline playback; and Force Touching a link in Safari to see a thumbnail preview.
Apple will reportedly announce the next iPhone alongside a redesigned Apple TV at an event in early September.
The iPhone 6S is rumored to come with a stronger aluminum construction that’s harder to bend, a faster A9 processor, 2GB of RAM, speedier LTE data speeds, improved battery life and a 12-megapixel camera capable of recording 4K video.

Google+ Photos to Shutdown on 1 August

Google+ Photos is shutting down on 1 August, announced Google. The Android version of Google+ Photos will pulled down starting 1 August, followed by the web and iOS versions, to make an entrance for the standalone Google Photos app that was introduced in May. It’s time to make the switch to new Photos App for those users still using Google+ Photos.

Users will begin to see a prompt in Google+ Photos on Android asking them to download the new Photos app. Once you make the switch, all photos and videos will be saved in the new app. So you don’t have to worry about your photos. All your photos and videos will be saved and available after you switch to the new, stand-alone Google Photos app. With the new app you’ll still be able to backup, edit, and share your photos and videos, with unlimited storage, automatic organization, and more. For those who don’t update to the new Google Photos, Google+ Photos on Android will soon stop working. However, your photos and videos will still remain safely stored and available via http://photos.google.com or for export using Google Takeout.

The new standalone Photos app was announced at Google I/O 2015 developers conference on May 28. The show-stopping feature was the ability to support unlimited photos and video storage.

Adobe’s Creative Cloud 2015 milestone updates for iOS, Android and Desktop!

Finally acknowledging the clamor from Android users — Adobe has launched four Android apps (available in Google Play store). These four Creative Cloud apps, along with a brand new micro-stock photo service (Adobe Stock), a video-focused iOS app (Hue CC) and a bunch of updates to Creative Cloud’s desktop apps mark Adobe’s milestone updates for this year.

Along with Photoshop Mix, Adobe’s self-styled “capture apps” — Color CC, Brush CC and Shape CC – are now available for Android.

The compositing app – Photoshop Mix – enables you to combine images (mask & overlay images on top of the other), change colors and share composites on social networks. The app also allows photos to the send to the desktop Photoshop CC for additional work.

For use in Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop, Color CC will now let you extract colors from images and create themes in scenes. Brush CC lets you convert photographs or graphics into custom brushes for use in Adobe Photoshop CC or Illustrator CC. In Adobe Illustrator CC or Adobe Photoshop CC Shape CC lets you capture and transform images into vector graphics/illustrations. Adobe’s video-focused iOS app is Hue CC, letting you create custom filters and looks from photos you have captured, for use in Adobe’s video apps, Premiere Pro, Premiere Clip and After Effects CC.

The most noteworthy addition to the Creative Cloud suite is Adobe Stock. With the acquisition of Fotolia Abode offers microstock photos to Creative Cloud subscribers. Adobe Stock functions as a standalone service as well. The service aims to make to easier for people already using Adobe's creative apps to find stock images.

For existing Creative Cloud subscribers Adobe Stock plans start at $29.99/month for 10 images and $49.99/month for non-subscribers. Individual photos may be licensed at $9.99 each.
Adobe's Creative Cloud suite of desktops apps – Photoshop, Lightroom, After Effects, and Premiere Pro, are getting updates and new features. The new "dehaze" tool in Photoshop and Lightroom takes out haze from landscapes images and underwater images.

The Creative Cloud updates are available for subscribers now. Although Adobe's mobile apps are free and available to anyone, whether or not they are members of the Creative Cloud subscription service, to take full advantage of the workflows between mobile and desktop apps, subscription will be necessary.

Private photo sharing app 'Moments' from Facebook

Will Ruben, Facebook’s Product Manager for Moments say their goal with the app was to create a very private space for groups of friends to share photos. Gatherings, trips, events, meets etc. are now captured in everyone’s cell phones; it however becomes difficult to sort them and moreover to share it with everybody individually. Photos uploaded on social websites need not have the most appropriate audience especially for all your private moments and addressing this issue is the new standalone app – Moments.

Moments keeps the photos organized on your phone by grouping photos together based on who are there in them and when they were taken. The app uses face recognition technology, much like ‘tagging’ on Facebook. Therefore syncing photos with the app makes it easier for you to store them and share it with groups of friends and even take photos you don’t have from them. It is possible to share photos with friends by syncing the same with them and they can sync photos with you as well.

Moments app doubles as a good backup of all your photographs with a limitless storage option, whether you have the originals photos on your phone or not! Ruben also says that the images are optimized for speed and quality of the captured moments, although the full resolution of the image will be compromised. Moments will let you however recover old photos from friends that you would have otherwise never discovered.
A Creative Labs’ app – Moments is now available on iOS and Android in the US. Over time the app will be available in many more countries.

Google I/O 2015: New Photos App Offers Unlimited Photo and Video Storage

The Photos App from Google, which was so far integrated within Google+, is revamped and now available with some interesting features – announced Google in I/O 2015 developers conference. The revamped Photos app will be available for Android, iOS as well as the web. A magnificent feature of Google Photos is having the ability to support unlimited photos and videos. However, the image resolution is limited to 16 megapixels and video resolution is limited to 1080p videos, which is good enough for most mobile and amateur photographers out there.

With unlimited storage for both photos and videos, Google Photos may just make every other photo storage service, which charges users after a fixed storage limit, redundant.
Google Photos will continue to use auto-backup feature and you can store all your photos and videos which can be accessed across devices. Even though it is exposed to some level of compression, Google claims that images have a print-quality resolution. You can store up to 15GB original size images for free.
To make photo search easier, Google has added a visual search feature that will let you search photos by people and places and random things that may be present in the image. For instance, you can search images which have say, ‘the skyline’ or images shot in ‘Goa’ and so on. The auto-grouping is private by default. You can also use pinch to zoom gesture to go from a single image to images by the week or month, a feature present of Apple’s Photo app as well.
The Auto-awesome feature, present in the Google+, has been carried forward to Google Photos. This will let the app create automatic interactive stories, montage movies, GIF animations from a burst of images, collages and more. You also get the option to share it or edit it or delete it. Photo editing options which were present with the previous variation of Photos will also be present on the Photos app. Editing tools like filters, adjust colors, change tone maps and so on are also available with Google Photos.
The most essential thing in the Photos app is improvements in sharing photos. The app lets you select images in a group by just swiping over them. When sharing images to friends, they will receive a web link from where they can view or download the images you share. This bypasses the need for the recipient to have the Google Photos app installed on his or her phone.

Android M Developer Preview Out Now

Google I/O 2015 created quite the buzz expected! The annual developers’ meet took place in San Francisco. The successor of Lollipop has improved stability and usability. The shift will be more in quality than the look of the platform! Less intimidating App Permissions, battery life, links between apps and Chrome Custom Tabs are a few improvements that come with the latest operating system. Android M will be made available for users in Q3 2015. However app developers may get the prerelease version
here!

Google I/O 2015: Maps to Bring Offline Search and Navigation

Just like Google has done with YouTube, you will soon be able to take offline Maps search and navigation with you. Google has announced in the 2015 I/O developers conference that they are going to work on Offline Maps and turn-by-turn navigation. Google hasn’t given an exact date as to when this feature will begin working on Maps.

You will get the turn by turn voice navigation even with the offline Maps, stated Google. This is particularly relevant in markets like India where cellular connectivity may not always be speedy at all times while driving.

Offline maps navigation will certainly help out people in saving up on data charges when they are out and about. However, keep in mind that offline maps with turn-by-turn navigation will surely take up significant space on your storage.

Google +1 Button Now Shares Directly to Google+

Google has updated the button 1 with several new features, including the ability to directly share a website for Google +. "From today, we are making it easier for Google + users to share web pages with their circles, straight from the 1 button," said Senior Vice President Vic Gundotra Social Google in a blog. "Only one page, as usual and look for 'Share on Google +" the new option. From there you can comment, choose a circle and share. "

In the past, clicking on the button in a single shared the contents of a tab in a user profile + Google. This is in contrast to the button as Facebook, which published an article on the Facebook wall of a user. Now that Google has its own social network, the search giant can match the functionality of Facebook button.

Google also announced the addition of the button bits + 1. A fragment of + is simply the link, the image and complete description when you share a link with Google +. These fragments + make the content more attractive Google + social network, so the search giant is offering publishers the ability to customize their fragments. Publishers can customize the code of a button to set what is shown in a snippet +.

Google says that a button has grown rapidly since its introduction in June. The button is now integrated in over 1 million web sites, for a total of 4 million hits a day. Those are impressive numbers, but the success or failure of the 1 key will be measured in clicks, not views.

Buffer helps you build a tweet queue and spreads out your updates over time

You know what kind of Twitter that publishes 10 tweets in 10 minutes? Not their fault, say the founders of buffer. Twitter just created inefficient for people who are not surfing the Internet all day, but prefer to read in chunks. "When you read things is not necessarily the best time to share", co-founder of buffer Widrich Leonhard says. "You want to read it, and do not necessarily want to participate immediately in a conversation. Maybe it's night and nobody sees your tweets."

To resolve this problem, Widrich and co-founder Joel Gascoigne has created a simple solution. Buffer is a tool that helps users create a queue of tweets, and you are reading, and then organizes the tweets to hit its channels throughout the day.

According to the analysis of the implementation of a sample of 2. 000 users, on average Buffer clickthrough rates increased in tweets by 200% in the first three weeks of the inscription - probably because Twitter more often and at times of the day when more people are using Twitter .

What makes it worth Buffer is that you never have to visit the website actually. Has extensions for all major browsers allow users to add tweets directly from the page you want to share, add a button option next Twitter response retweets saving to a queue (this feature is limited to the extent of Chrome) and is making efforts to integrate with the readers.

"If we have the best algorithm, but is only a web control panel and you should always go there and put in their tweets, that will be very difficult for you," says Widrich. "But if this is where you go if you're in your reader ... that will make the exchange of experiences to be much easier. "

Twitter recently Strawberryj reader. I put a button in the application buffer. Buffer hopes to have a public API ready next month, so that other services can do something similar. Services rather than adding buffer, the more difficult for a Twitter client (or Twitter itself) to crush the launch by simply creating a similar function.

"We do not want to be a customer, you really only want the experience of sharing in social networks and improve that."

Current buffer is the only income source of their premium accounts, allowing more than one Twitter account and a larger tail Twitter. Of about 30,000 users of the launch, about 2.5% made its paid version.

Facebook’s Big Privacy Changes

Facebook unveiled a massive wave of change in the privacy of Tuesday. Revision is one of the more privacy in the history of the company, which includes more than a dozen changes in the profiles, status updates, location and tags.
In fact, there are so many changes that easy to get confused about the changes Facebook is doing and what impact their privacy. The updates are significant enough that Facebook will make each of its 750 million users go through a tutorial on setting updated privacy.

Profiles

Changes in the privacy of the main Facebook profiles are:

Greater control of the profile: Profile visibility controls now appear next to content when editing your profile. For example, if you just want to see your friends about the music you like, you can change directly from the profile editing page.
Online tips: Facebook shows a balloon, a friend or gear icon to indicate whether some of the content is public, only seen by friends or customized for a group of friends or on the list.
"View Profile How": The "profile as" feature has been moved from the Privacy Settings page in the top right corner of the user profile. This is designed to make it more accessible.
Review of the Privacy page: Reform of privacy will result in a privacy page much cleaner and easier, since most of the privacy settings are now integrated at the profile page.
Tags

Changes in the privacy of Facebook major labels are:

Reviews Tag: Facebook has implemented a system where users can approve or reject the photo tags, the state or the place before they appear on their profiles. This profile can be enabled or disabled depending on user preference.
Changes in the labeling of photos: Due to the revisions tag feature, Facebook felt comfortable allowing the user to label someone a photo, whether they are friends. This makes it easy to tag people in group photos. Users must approve these labels before they appear on the profile of a user.
Author tags in the box: It's easier to see who is labeled a status update. The left side of the box now includes an area editor for managing recordings.
Untagging new features: If a user untags a photo, you will be given the option of sending a request to the Registrar of the photo to remove it. You also have the option to block that person completely.
Status and location updates

Changes in the privacy of the major updates to share the location and condition are:

Public updates: the "all" option updates state becomes "public" for clarity.
No more lock icon: The padlock icon in the Author box has also changed. We now show the icon of the globe, a friend or team, depending on whether the update is public, for friends or custom.
Facebook integration Places: Places Facebook has integrated into the Author box. Now users can mark a location in any status update. The same applies to photos and photo albums.
No more restrictions on GPS: Now users can mark any location in a status update or a picture, regardless of whether they are really close. This makes it possible to make a photo album after you have returned home.
Mobile Changes: The icon Facebook places no longer appear in mobile applications. Instead of "close" icon will take its place. We will show that users have marked nearby.
Reactions

We asked some privacy and security groups to respond to changes in the privacy of Facebook. Here are two responses:

1. Electronic Frontier Foundation:

"We've been asking Facebook for granular control over the privacy settings for some time, and we are pleased that Facebook now offers in-line controls. We also welcome the introduction of greater control over labeling.

Social networking services should ensure that users have permanent control over privacy and personal information stored on the service. For effects that users need clear user interface that allows them to make informed decisions about who sees their data and how it is used. We look forward to see how these controls work in place, to see if users understand and reduce the number of unintentional on sharing on Facebook.

It is also good to see more competition in the privacy controls between social networks. Google Entering the circles gave users more controls for online sharing, and Facebook is now online providing more granular controls. We expect this trend of competition continues.

One disappointment is that Facebook is considering the elimination of the option may not allow users to keep their friends checking in places. As we understand, there is no deadline for this control, but will be available for at least 60 days, and select the option to be protected to maintain it. Even if a user does not want or need to control now, we recommend you select the option to make sure that this control is available to them. "

2. Safety Connect:

"This is an important step forward in the privacy of Facebook users of all ages - one that all members of the Security Advisory Council liked. Giving users the opportunity to think about the level of exposure they want with each update status or photo posted encourages everyone to be a little more aware of our social media use, and that's a good thing as we all hope the social norms of social media.
