Google Doodle of the Day
When you are looking for something on Google today, you will find a fascinating instrument in the top of the page: It is recording an electric guitar built in the shape of the Google logo, in homage to the great guitarist Les Paul, which would have been 96 years old today (Thursday).
Move your mouse over the ropes, and can rip this little instrument. You can also play notes on the keyboard. Click the record button located on the rectangular bottom of the second "g" of the word "Google" would be, and every note you play will be saved for posterity.
There's more. It creates a URL that can be sent to others, so you can hear your masterpiece. This is where it gets even more interesting: Send the address to someone, and when that person paste the URL into the address bar, you can play a duet together. Try it - play with me.
Or, you can play along with your recording, sound mixing as Les Paul did for the first time way back in the late 40's. Someone could really make some real music with it.
Click the drawing itself, and takes you to sites with Les Paul. Try here.
How appropriate! Les Paul, one of the first electric guitar and builder of one of the first solid body electric guitars was an innovative artist who created new forms of overlapping tracks in the recording studio. And here his memory is honored with another innovation, a website that shows a playable guitar and encouraged - you can record and dubbing - on his birthday.
Les Paul, after the legendary Gibson Les Paul is named, died in 2009 after living to the ripe old age of 94. Congratulations to Google for honoring their creative spirit by building the best ever Google doodle.

AddThis Launches New Way to Measure Social Sharing
AddThis has launched a new way for publishers to continue the exchange of what happens in its simplest form - copy and paste a URL from the address bar and then to a network share e-mail or IM.
To AddThis, Clearspring is owned by, which could represent an enormous wealth of new data that the company can provide to web publishers. Clearspring CEO Hooman RADF says the company has "seen up to 10 times greater exchange in the address bar face buttons share." With a network that now reaches more than 1.2 million unique users per month in 9 million sites, that's a lot of sharing that was previously going untold.
To help make sense of these data, the company is also launching AddThis test called Live View, which shows the exchange of data and real-time click. The idea, according to a company statement, is that "publishers can use this information to modify page layout, editorial content and marketing tactics in response to continuous feedback on the activities of the spectators." U.S. Today is one of the largest publishers in today with the Live View of the platform.
To Clearspring, the implementation follows recent news of a funding round of $ 20 million, money the company plans to use to continue building tools for publishers. RADF recently told me that, "Now that we have this massive view of what is happening on the Web, we're seeing ... how you take the power of the entire network and onto the individual publisher. Only a handful of companies on the web that have the scope of what we do. "
Asked specifically about the finances of the company (Clearspring has raised a total of $ 60 million), RADF said: "We do not need the money right now ... we're using really and honestly for growth." He added that a public offering starting sometime in the foreseeable future is, "Not for the realm of possibility."

Appointment slots in Google Calendar
Google just added a nifty new feature to its online calendar, appointment slots.
Now, in addition to regular events, you can reserve a certain amount of time on your calendar of appointments. To do this, click anywhere on the calendar of events and changing appointment slots at the top of the bubble of a new event.
The trick with the appointment slots is that they get their own URL, which can be embedded in a website or sent directly to someone. The URL is available on the settings page that opens when you click the appointment slot on your calendar. A visitor to the URL can make an appointment with you and with a new event to share, both yours and that person's calendar will be created.
The option will be extended and should be available worldwide in the coming days.

“An 11-foot bird lives less than two miles from 30.891383,
-102.885032. What’s his name?”
You find the answer
Put your search skills and Google's tools to use. For instance, you can enter 30.891383, -102.885032 right inside the search bar, and learn that it's directly in the center of Ft. Stockton, TX. A quick Search for [Giant bird ft stockton TX] (or perhaps you’re the adventurous type who’ll “walk” there in Street View) and you’ll have your bird: Paisano Pete.
There's no right way to solve it, but there's only one right answer.

Google, Facebook, Mozilla & Others getting Ready for IPv6
IPv6 is the solution of the Web "Internet addresses is running out" dilemma that has been floating for a few months. In January, Google, the Internet Society, and several web companies announced Day of IPv6, where each organization allow IPv6 addresses on their websites for a period of 24 hours. Now, the list of organizations has grown to more than 400 technology companies, including Facebook, Mozilla, MSN, YouTube and many others. The services of these companies have adjusted, updated and ready for IPv6 changes. The trial period of 24 hours will allow these organizations to ensure compatibility with IPv6 error free.
Most users probably will not notice the test, according to Google. The company estimates that about 0.05% of the systems involved, especially in home networking equipment such as routers, IPv4 can not return after the tests. Affected users may find some of the above sites slow or unresponsive.
IPv6 is the sixth review of Internet Protocol and is the successor of IPv4. The two protocols provide unique IP addresses is required for Internet-connected devices to communicate. However, IPv6 uses 128-bit addresses from the Internet. IPv4 and IPv6 networks function as parallel data exchange between these protocols require special gateways.

Apple iCloud
iCloud stores your music, photos, apps, calendars, documents, and more. And wirelessly pushes them to all your devices — automatically. It’s the easiest way to manage your content. Because now you don’t have to. Your content. On all your devices.
iCloud is so much more than a hard drive in the sky. It’s the effortless way to access just about everything on all your devices. iCloud stores your content so it’s always accessible from your iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, Mac, or PC.* It gives you instant access to your music, apps, latest photos, and more. And it keeps your email, contacts, and calendars up to date across all your devices. No syncing required. No management required. In fact, no anything required. iCloud does it all for you.
Free gets you a lot.
When you sign up for iCloud, you automatically get 5GB of free storage. And that’s plenty of room, because of the way iCloud stores your content. Your purchased music, apps, and books, as well as your Photo Stream, don’t count against your free storage. That leaves your mail, documents, Camera Roll, account information, settings, and other app data. And since those things don’t use as much space, you’ll find that 5GB goes a long way.
The apps you use every day are ready for iCloud.
When you update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to iOS 5, your favorite Apple apps become seamlessly integrated with iCloud. Just like that. So all your content and information is available and up to date, no matter which device you’re using.

“Twittersphere” Enter the Oxford Dictionary
As of this week, you’ll be able to justify the word “Twittersphere” using the Oxford Dictionaries Online. The word is on a long list of new additions to the dictionary, many of which have origins in technology and social media.
“The world of computers and social networking continues to be a major influence on the English language,” explains the online dictionary’s blog. (The Oxford Dictionary Online is affiliated with the OED, but they are not one and the same. The difference is explained here.) Other newly official words include “social graph,” “permalink,” “paperless,” “lifehack” and “lappy.”
Dictionaries have been acknowledging emerging Internet vocabulary since 2004 or before. That year, “blog” made the top of Merriam Webster’s Word of the Year list. “Facebook” was Collins’s top word three years later, and in 2009, “unfriend” was the Oxford Dictionary’s top pick.
Perhaps “unfollow,” which Oxford also included in its recent online updates, will follow in its Facebook counterpart’s footsteps.

Syria closes Internet
Internet traffic has come to an end in Syria after the government blocked Internet services in an attempt to quell a growing rebellion in the nation in the Middle East.
"From 3:35 UTC today, approximately two thirds of all networks of Syria became unreachable from the global Internet," said Renesys Internet intelligence firm in his blog today.
"Over half an hour, the routes to 40 of 59 networks were withdrawn from the global routing table."
Most mobile phones and Internet networks are affected by the blackout. According to The Wall Street Journal, Web sites run by government, such as the website of the Ministry of Petroleum is still running.
Syria has been the prohibition of social media services in recent months, but this is the full time has been cut all to the Internet.
The decision comes as protests have intensified in the troubled nation. 34 people were killed on Friday after security forces opened fire. The uprising, which began in late January, has focused on the dismissal, Bashar Al-Assad and his role as President of Syria. Al-Assad became president in 2000 after 29-year rule of his father.
Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, close Internet services during the Egyptian revolution protesters were not easy to organize. Do not put down the revolt, however, and on February 11, Mubarak resigned.

U.N. Report Declares Internet Access a Human Right
A United Nations report said on Friday that people disconnect from the internet is a violation of human rights and against international law.
The report criticized France and the United Kingdom, which have passed legislation to eliminate accused copyright infringers on the Internet. They also protested by blocking access to the Internet to quell political unrest.
While blocking and filtering measures to deny users access to specific content on the Internet, the states have also taken steps to cut off Internet access altogether. The Special Rapporteur considers that cut access to Internet users, regardless of the justification provided, including on grounds of violating intellectual property rights, is disproportionate and therefore a violation of Article 19, paragraph 3, of the International Covenant Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
The report continues:
The Special Rapporteur urges all States to ensure that Internet access is maintained at all times, even during times of political turmoil. In particular, the Special Rapporteur urges States to repeal or amend the laws of intellectual copyrights that allow users to disconnect from Internet access, and to refrain from adopting such laws.
The report, prepared by the UN Special Rapporteur on the Promotion and Protection of the Right to Freedom of Opinion and Expression, comes the same day an Internet monitoring company found that two thirds of Internet access in Syria has sharply dark past, in what is likely a government response to the unrest in that country.

Intel's Facebook 'Museum of Me'
Facebook users who want an interesting (and perhaps frightening) the display of their activity in the largest social network in the world can achieve this with the help of Intel's new Museum of the application of me.
When users browse in the Museum of the page at me, you will find a picture and ask them to connect the Facebook service. After no more than a minute of waiting, a video tour takes users through a "visual record of their social life."
"This exhibition is a traveling display that explores what I am", the video says that users start taking the virtual tour of the museum.
As the tour begins, users "walk" through the rooms, showing the profile pictures of friends, photos, videos on their profiles, and more. The "museum" also includes a collection of status updates and other content posted on your wall. Another room displays information from the user's location on a map.
No doubt some will be at the Museum of me and I think it's a little creepy that Intel was able to get that amount of user profile information to put in the program. However, it is worth noting that all the information available at the Museum of me is content that the user has shared with friends on your Facebook profile. In addition, Intel's implementation is not shared publicly.
Intel Museum of me is more than just help users to view their Facebook activity. The service is also a listing of the company's core i5, however, that did not meet until the end of the video of the user.
In general, the Intel Museum to me worth trying at least once. It's a really cool tool that does a good job of collecting all information from her Facebook page and spread out on a fun display.

Bing - A New Streetside View
If you take a look at a map of Bing in street view you will notice today that we have made many changes. These changes represent a significant improvement for desktop browsers, allowing you to quickly pan up and down the street to see the neighborhood and find businesses. We do this by offering panoramic street level so you can take a virtual walk through the streets to historic sites and monuments. As you slide the imagery side street level, the point of view of the sidewalk is perfectly constructed as a superposition of information on companies, names of streets and storefronts. Check it out at a flat, straight from the street, New York, or a winding slope, in San Francisco one.
Why the change? In the past we have examined the images of streets, navigating between the "bubbles" or discrete 360 degree views, and extends to the street was out jumping from bubble to bubble. This works, but makes it difficult for you to get an idea of a larger area like a city block. On the other hand, it is difficult to choose the window further and really only see directly perpendicular to his point of view very clearly.
This new style, meanwhile, maintains the immersive experience, but adds a soft left / right panorama navigation that makes it easy to find what is close faster. The road flows like a series of pictures without any problems at ground level so that now only has to scroll up and down the street to see the area and find what you want.
While you are moving around this new vision can keep track of where you are looking at a map of the streets over the images. Just below the images you will see an overlay of the names of companies and bus stops, reducing clutter and provide a context location.
Want to see what's on the street? Click the "U-Turn" icon next to the street name at the top left of the image. Want to see what was down a cross street? Just click on the name of the street, if there are images of street maps available for that area will turn on him.

Top Twitter Trends This Month: May
May began with a bang - the death of Osama bin Laden, May 1 - but then more or less like any other standard months, at least judging by what people are talking on Twitter.
Although football is football, it is perhaps a little sad that Justin Bieber bin Laden beat in the final. Or maybe that's good - it's hard to say. Even so the world could not beat the football / Bieber combined. Maybe if the Rapture really happened on May 21, had taken the month
#1 Soccer/Football 4 In post-season competition in May, the top football trend was #SurvivalSunday, which is related to the final day in the English Premier League. Fans of Club América, a popular soccer team in Mexico, were shocked when they were eliminated from the playoffs. Another big topic was the Champions League Final between Manchester United and Barcelona (won by the latter team).
#2 Justin Bieber 4 Justin Bieber fans caused 52 separate trends regarding the singer to hit Twitter’s Top 10 during the month of May. And that doesn’t include trends about his relationship with Selena Gomez (pro and con).
#3 Osama bin Laden 3 Al Qaeda commander Osama Bin Laden was killed by a small team of Navy SEALs in Abbottabad, Pakistan, on May 2. The raid and its consequences were avidly discussed for days.
#4 May 21st/The Rapture 3 Some Christian believers insisted the world would end on Saturday, May 21. It didn’t. But users took the opportunity to confess things they had done and shared playlists that they had or would like to have before the “rapture.”
#5 Lady Gaga 3 Lady Gaga fans caused a number of unusual trends to hit Twitter’s Top 10 including RTing “Lord Voldemort + Lady Gaga = Lord Gaga.” They also caused a number of songs on her album Born This Way to trend.
#6 Mother’s Day 3 Sunday May 8 marked Mothers Day in many countries around the world. People are tweeting their love and affections towards their mothers.
#7 NBA Playoffs 2 NBA playoffs continued throughout the month of May which culminate in the NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks which begin May 31.
#8 Jonas Brothers 2 Jonas Brothers fans celebrated “Jonas Brothers Day” on May 7 (because of 7:05, a popular song by the group). They used the day to celebrate everything the band has done for us, through their actions, their love, through their music.
#9 Super Junior 2 Super Junior fans sent a lot of trends involving band members and certain singles into Twitter’s Top 10 Trends including Lee Hyuk Jae, also known as Eunhyuk, and “Bonamana”, Super Junior’s fourth studio album which was released a year ago this month.
#10 The Vampire Diaries 2 Fans of the TV show The Vampire Diaries were on the edge of their seats when it looked like the character played by @IanSomerhalder, the vampire Damon Salvatore, looked like he was going to die in the season 2 finale.

Twitter Plans To Launch Photo-Sharing Service
The rumor has been beaten by the afternoon with reports that Twitter is working on her own photo-sharing service to compete with the likes of Twitpic and Yfrog.
TechCrunch first reported the tip, citing several unnamed sources, last week. And now all things D appears to have confirmed the story as well, going so far as to say that the service will be announced this week. ATD story also quotes unnamed sources, but claims the announcement will be made in their own conference, D9, this week in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. \
Not come as too big of a surprise that these reports turn out to be true. He then asked the Twitter developers to halt construction of third-party clients, the company announced the acquisition of TweetDeck. Although it took months to finally confirmed the rumors too, so the rumors can be seen for some time before Twitter makes any official announcement.
Wepay
WePay was founded by Bill Clerico and Rich Aberman in August 2008 following three simple observations:
Collecting money is a struggle for groups of all sizes -- from a group of friends splitting the cost of a ski house to a fraternity collecting membership fees and soliciting donations.
People collecting money have two options: hold shared funds in a personal bank account or go through the trouble of setting up a separate bank account.
Maintaining transparency and sharing account activity information with group members is a challenge.
Since high school, Bill and Rich have been collecting and managing money for various activities, clubs and organizations. Bill was student body president and spent his afternoons slinging tickets to dances, lock-ins, fundraisers and trips. Rich was a traveling member of the debate team, and cofounder of a club dedicated to raising money to build a school in Nicaragua.
When Bill and Rich met at Boston College, they were both heavily involved in a wide range of groups that needed to collect and manage money. Bill was the treasurer of multiple on-campus clubs, and was "that guy" hounding his roommates to pay rent every month. Rich organized a 15-person service trip to Biloxi, Mississippi.
In all of these groups, more time was spent collecting, tracking and managing money than almost anything else.
About a year after graduating, Rich had to plan his brother's bachelor party, while Bill was trying to collect money to rent a ski house. When Rich had to keep a spreadsheet and send out constant reminders, and Bill had to open a separate bank account just to hold the money, they had finally had enough. They decided to build WePay – the easiest way for groups to collect, manage, and spend money.

Google launches its platform portfolio for NFC payments Jumpstart
Google launched its long spoken push into mobile payments with the introduction of a new payment platform called Google portfolio based on near field communication (NFC). The company said it will take-and-go payments via mobile phones equipped with NFC and payments will be partnering with Google offers to help retailers and traders to strengthen its ties with consumers.
Google said it has partnered with Citibank, MasterCard, Sprint and First Data for the digital wallet, which comes into immediate tests in San Francisco and New York, followed by a wider geographical spread of this summer. The executives stressed that the book is a first step in helping to boost the NFC technology and helping create an ecosystem that can build off of this platform.
The effort is limited at first because there is only one NFC Android phone model, the S Nexus, available today. And the only credit card that works is Citibank Mastercard, although Google is allowing PayPal and Google your own prepaid card that can store the payment of other accounts in the portfolio. And still have the cooperation of traders who need to buy POS hardware that can handle the MasterCard PayPass technology. Currently there are 120 thousand commercial establishments in the U.S. and 300,000 worldwide are currently able to handle the NFC Mastercard payments.
However, the move should give a strong impetus for NFC technology, which is turning a corner and as more manufacturers, operators, and other financial companies are increasing their efforts to harness technology for payments and offers. With Google now firmly supported by the technology, which can serve as an additional driver to catalyze the market.

Children & Online Safety
The Internet did not come to most of today's parents until after they had spent their teenage years. Online behavior was something that can be addressed with the provision of an adult (though some chose not to do so.)
Their children, however, were born in a very different situation. It is not uncommon to see a iPad next to the crib, and 7.5 million children under 13 have profiles on Facebook.
If parents do not teach online safety, their children can not recognize online or reckless actions of their impact.
1. Understanding Internet Security Before Explain
Many adults are not experts on Internet users themselves. A 2010 study, for example, found that only 51% of the participants acknowledged that the ad companies often determine which ads are shown based on the history of websites visited before.
"Children are learning about all facets of social media online. It is happening much before," said Hilary DeCesare, CEO of Everloop between the social network. "It is parents who do not go together ... The real question is, how to teach children about something that does not feel comfortable with?"
2. Teach, do not rule
"We've always been on the side of education," says Godlis. "Teaching someone and they will learn and understand. They have the power to do the right thing."
"Children do not feel comfortable telling adults [about the problems they find online as cyber bullying] because they think they will get into trouble, or worse, they worry that they will take their privileges to use the Internet , "she says.
3. Consider the social networking age appropriate
Legally, children under 13 should not be on Facebook, MySpace or Twitter. In The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act prevents sites gathering information from children without parental permission. Many children go through this law, even in places to play, simply by adjusting his birthday. But DeCesare says parents should be careful with social networking sites for adults.
"Facebook was never intended for children under 13 years," she says. "Children click on things. What could be a problem, not only friending people, but the malware that collect online. "
Most of these networks restrict the content and provide an element of parental supervision, either by alerting parents when something seems suspicious or ask them to approve certain actions, as new friends.
4. Monitor carefully
No matter your price range or parenting philosophy, there is a choice of appropriate software to monitor their children's safety online.
But Godlis cautions parents against the idea that the use of this service alone is sufficient.
"I think that filters and controls parents a false sense of security - as long as the filters are on, do not have to worry about," he says. "Certainly you can rely too much on it. Children are very smart and move around. They know how to use proxy servers and know how to do things that parents do not."

4 Legal considerations for creating a mobile application
Start with this list
Hide not the money factor. If your application has a charge associated with it - either as part of the initial purchase or within the application itself (for example, buying in-game content, accessories, etc), reveal that the initial point using language clear in the description. Apply a "dummy" test - that his notice of technology-challenged family member and read the disclosure, or is buried under miles of the terms and conditions?
Definitely not hide the money factor if your application is aimed at children. If you expect parents to download their free app but the children play it, consider whether the charges in the game to make sense from a business standpoint (weighed against the risks of parents claiming unauthorized charges for their children) . If there is a sound business reason for the options of loading the game, make sure you clearly and conspicuously disclose the potential costs upfront in the description.
Evaluate your drilling. Unless you are closely watching the courts and Congress may not have realized that the data user mobile applications bears his name. You must accurately assess user data is a collective application (intentional and unintentional) and why they are doing. Ask yourself these questions:
Does this mean the data collection's name, contact details or other personally identifiable information you or your contacts?
Does the application to gather information from the device location and / or a unique identifier per user or device?
Is there a business reason necessary for data collection and access?
Do you retain data for a period of time consistent with the reason that the collection?
Do you share that data with other parties (or allow others to access the data), and the parties may use the data to make a profile of users' personal identification?
If you answered yes to any of the foregoing, it should closely review how and whether the terms of its application to communicate that to the user and if the users understand the terms and consent to such use.
Legal jargon is bad. If you take care of everything identified above with a link to a long and repetitive terms and conditions privacy policy is mistaken. A boilerplate legalese does not insulate your business. The main question is if you clearly communicate the key terms - the same charges and personal data - the consumer so the consumer understood and accepted. That means ensuring that your application guides users through these key terms in a "just in time, so easy.

Skype Outage
Many users of Skype messaging and VoIP services are now in solitary confinement after the service was reduced for many users, with the cut in many cases, making Skype software to crash.
The company has released a solution that should allow customers to get back online crash, and plans to have an easier solution "soon", but so far has no explanation for the problems. Many users still complain of difficulties in Twitter, with occasional reports of problems, even after taking corrective action.
Skype recommended solution does not work for everyone
Most users seem to be affected, however, with about 26 million currently online.
Some wags are blaming the cuts on Microsoft's recently announced purchase of the company, but that simply is not true, the agreement is pending regulatory approval, and for the moment, businesses remain independent.
The problem, however, again raise questions about the desirability of acquiring Microsoft. Skype technology depends largely on point to point connectivity. This allowed to handle Skype at tens of millions of users simultaneously without having to invest in server capacity substantially. However, this also makes the service vulnerable to the problems that a more conventional client / server architecture as used by Messenger and Microsoft's own services would be immune Lync a. If a large number of Skype customers offline, either due to the mass, because Windows Update restarts or crashes due to widespread failures throughout the network client can fail.
